AMRIN - Australian Microbial Resources Information Network
The Australian Microbial Resources Information Network Program will develop electronic access to information on the location of microbial cultures and research expertise in Australia . This program will develop the infrastructure to integrate the information obtained in the Australian Microbial Resources Study Program and the Australian Collections of Microorganisms Program and to make this information available to participants and to the wider national and international research and biotechnology communities. The Research Network website will provide access to databases of Australian Microbial Resources and research expertise.
The website will be the means to facilitate exchange of information between participants and to communicate information such as publications and meetings. The long term aim of AMRIN will be to provide an up to date inventory of the biogeographic distribution of Australian microbial and genetic resources, a key element of the Convention on Biological Diversity. An advisory committee will be established for the development of standardized web-based software for the management of culture collection databases and resources, the retrieval and analysis of data by participants. Mechanisms will developed for participants to maintain up to date information on their research activities on the AMRIN website.
